Cargo Bike Share

The first publicly available cargo bike sharing scheme in the country, Cargo Bike Share, launched last month on Car Free Day. Eight new electrically assisted cargo bikes are now available to rent from four docking stations across Hackney, with two in Shoreditch (close to the borders with Islington and Tower Hamlets), one in London Fields, and one in Stoke Newington.

The scheme aims to help residents and businesses carry goods by bike and support them to reduce transport emissions. ZEN currently supports businesses and their employees to use cargo bikes with free trials, training, maintenance and grants. The new Cargo Bike Share service will help even more people discover the efficiency of cargo bikes. Each of the e-cargo bikes are capable of carrying up to 80kg - and can be used for shopping, deliveries, and moving small items of furniture.

The scheme is being delivered by ZEN and urban bike share and micro-mobility provider Beryl. The cargo bikes are accessed through the Beryl app and it costs £1.50 to unlock the bike and 10p per minute thereafter. Users must return the cargo bike to the same docking station they hired it from.

To celebrate Cargo Bike Share turning one month, on the 21st, 22nd and 24th October the ZEN team will be popping up around the docking stations to provide more information about the scheme and be able to answer any questions. We will have Cargo Bike Share discount codes and free bike lights on hand. If you see us please stop to say hello and if you have your bike with you Dr Bike will give it a free check up.
